Vs. Meyerhold Apartment Museum

Museum is situated in the memorial apartment of Vsevolod Meyerhold, a prominent director-reformer of the XX century, who influenced a lot the following development of the world theatrical culture.

Permanent exhibition of the apartment museum «Meyerhold. Birth of Spectacle» allows the visitors to follow the way of director’s idea birth from the first «sketches», plans of mise-en-scene, elaborations of the stage space to the detailed «score» by Meyerhold. The «final result» – a spectacle – is completely represented with manuscripts of drama writers, scores, set and costume designs, playbills, photographs recorded the process of the famous Meyerhold’s rehearsals, scenes from spectacles, actors playing the parts.

Original design solution shows each period of creativity of Meyerhold and allows the visitors to plunge into the atmosphere of theatre and life of dramatically changing epochs, where Meyerhold created his masterpieces.

Vs. Meyerhold Apartment Museum regularly carries out thematic recitals, lecture series and film shows.
