The Museum-Estate of A.N.Ostrovsky
The museum was found in 1984 in the house where dramatist A.N.Ostrovsky was born. The house is located in Zamoskvorechie – one of those rare places in contemporary Moscow, which preserved the charm and coziness of the old way of life. Around the Ostrovsky’s Estate one can find a beautiful garden that blooms from early spring till late autumn, and rooms of the wooden house, which is poured with a little muffled, soft light, preserve an atmosphere and mood of quite, hasteless life.
The museum collection consists of private things of the dramatist and his family, of friends-actors; items of material Russian culture of the last century, which reflect the Moscow history in general and of Zamoskvorechie particularly. The exposition tells about embodiment of stage plays, written by A.N.Ostrovsky – there are sketches of stage sets and costumes, photo portraits of actors, posters, handwritings.
The visit to the Museum-Estate Ostrovsky will be interesting for adults and for children as well – excursions and events for children are often held here, and there are always festive children’s performances during the New Year holidays.
