The exhibition «Leonid Tikhomirov and Olga Tikhomirova. Unity in Diversity» is open at the Theatre Salon on Tverskoy Boulevard from August 3. It presents selected works made by artists for during more than 35 years.

The exhibition has two parts: the first part is devoted to the period of the formation of the artists’ style and character that took place in 1950-1960’s. There are presented such works as Crimean series and other landscape works reflecting the seasons of the Middle Russia. The central works of each of the artists – «Noon» and «March» – embody the artists’ approach to the painting – the nature was a source of the vital force of their art.

The second part of the exhibition shows the late period of the artists’ creative life: there are Moscow landscapes such as «Garden Ring», «Mayakovsky Square», «Moscow is Being Built» and portraits, the most famous of which are the portraits of the composer Aram Khachaturyan and the great Russian ballerina Galina Ulanova. The active creative life of the Tikhomirovs is emphasized by photos of Moscow and their famous friends who were guests in the artists’ studio and became the characters of their portraits.
