The name of the theatrical symphony directed by Romeo Castellucci «Tragedy Born of Itself» very accurately reflects the concept of the Ekaterina Galaktionova’s exhibition. Her work is a special world filled with tragic conflicts. This world of aggression arises as a vivid, emotional reaction to the injustice of that reality where a person exists in a state of despair or delusion.

According to the exhibition curators, «strange and frightful art stories created by Galaktionova describe a partial view of the modern man who understands that joy can be perceived through misery and grief, and beauty through ugliness and mediocrity, but both of them represent the man’s life on earth».

Ekaterina Galaktionova is a graduate of the Moscow Art Theatre School. During her relatively short professional career, she has already become a nominee for the National Theatre Award «The Golden Mask» in 2014 («Best Artist’s Work») and also collaborated with such directors as Yuri Butusov, Vladimir Mirzoyev, Nikita Kobelev and others. She has created designs for more than 15 performances in different cities of Russia. Her works have repeatedly participated in the exhibitions «Your Chance», «Season Results», «Russian Shakespeare» in Newcastle, UK, «Klin 5», «POST. FAC-T», «Baltic Seasons», «The Future of Theatrical Russia», etc.

A concert of the group «Sentimental Idiots» with the participation of Ekaterina Galaktionova will be held after the official opening of the exhibition.
